Eight Miles High - The Byrds vs Hüsker Dü

Eight Miles High was released in 1966 by psychedelic rock band The Byrds and was covered by seminal melodic hardcore band Hüsker Dü and released as a 7" in 1984.

The song is clearly about taking drugs but whereas the original is an awesome trippy song taking off into the cosmos, the Hüskers somehow strip out the emotional undertow and reinterpret it to be one of the most incredible pieces of come-down catharsis ever consigned to vinyl.

Love them both, stone cold classics... listen to/ download them here
